You will need clearance from your Doctor to practice yoga.
Yoga is NOT recommended in the first trimester due to the risk of miscarriage.
If you had a regular yoga practice before you were pregnant, you can continue to practice Yin Yoga and Vinyasa Basics only.
These are the things to avoid:
- becoming breathless
- becoming too hot
- becoming dizzy
- lying on your belly
- lying on your right side
- lying flat on your back – always use a pillow to support your head
- twisting poses
- forward bends that put pressure on the belly
- any poses that causes discomfort
- strong stretching – your body becomes more flexible in the 2nd and 3rd trimester make sure you don’t overstretch
